How a School Trip to the UK Benefits European Students
The Learning Adventure is built on the belief that some of the most valuable educational experiences happen outside the classroom. That’s why we often take on young people for work experience. This blog post is written by Elisa, 16 years old.
Learning a New Language
English is a universal language. It’s spoken by approximately 1.5 billion people, which is 20% of the world’s population! That means that being fluent in English is extremely useful for European students – and there’s no better way to learn than to be constantly surrounded by English speakers! A school trip to the UK gives students a chance to actively learn English, away from the textbooks, and get engaged through workshops and activities.
A Different Culture
Whatever subject focus you choose, The Learning Adventure’s trips are always full of interactive cultural experiences. For example, students could be visiting Buckingham Palace and Hampton Court to learn about the British monarchy, the Museum of London to get an overview of the city’s history and Churchill’s War Museum to learn about the Second World War on a History educational tour.
Bring the Textbooks to Life
Everyone’s got assumptions and stereotypes about countries they haven’t visited before. However, there’s only so much you can experience from images, stories and textbooks. If your students have learned about the UK’s political system and read about the current complex political climate, take your students to watch MPs debate at the Palace of Westminster to see it in action.
Discover New Opportunities
Influence your students’ future education and career choices with advanced workshops and visits to companies and universities. For example, a Film & Photography school trip could include a study day at the British Film Institute. For students who are interested in pursuing a career in business, they are offered the opportunity of hearing from a start-up and engaging in a Q&A session. Often, students ask for advice for their own business ideas.
