school trips to italy

Italy’s captivating blend of culture, natural beauty, and business acumen makes it an ideal destination for immersive educational experiences.

At The Learning Adventure, we take pride in offering a wide array of school trips to Italy, each thoughtfully designed to provide students with learning opportunities while they discover the country’s rich heritage and modern-day innovations. All of our school trips to Italy are exciting, informative, and can be tailored to your specific curriculum requirements.

Art & Culture:

Though Italy might seem the most apparent choice for a school trip focusing on art and culture, it’s not without good reason. The epicentre of some of the most important cultural movements of all time, a school trip to Italy brings opportunities to encounter world-famous galleries, architectural masterpieces, and hands-on art classes.

On our Art school trip to Italy, students will see Michaelangelo’s David in the (marble) flesh and explore the wider Galleria dell’Accademia. However, they’ll also learn about the artistic industry of the Florentine region, with trips to the country to learn the art of making marbled paper, and a traditional pottery painting class taught in the 15th century style.

On our 10-day Culture tour, students can marvel at the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel with a visit to the Vatican, and see works by Titian, Botticelli, and Da Vinci at the Uffizi Gallery. And to explore how art intersects with geography, on our Renaissance Italy tour students can climb the 463 steps of Brunelleschi’s Dome.

Geography:

As home to some of the most defining urbanisation developments in history – as well as some globally-known geological features – a school trip to Italy is the perfect opportunity to explore both human and physical geography in an immersive setting. While exploring Rome on our Geography in Italy tour, students will take a tourism survey at the Colosseum and collect evidence of erosion from along the River Tiber. They’ll also explore the Roman Aqueducts, where they’ll explore how the Roman Empire harnessed their local geographies to bring water to the urban population.

No geography trip would be complete without a visit to Mount Vesuvius and Pompeii. On a guided tour of the volcano, students will learn about the natural processes at work in its depths, as well as learning to understand the very real after-effects of an eruption. This can then be supplemented with a trip to Pompeii, where they’ll get a first-hand understanding of the fallout.

Rome and Naples history trip

History & Classics:

Every student learns about the Romans – so where better to take a history trip to than Italy? On our History in Italy tour, trips to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum give students an exciting glimpse into the world beyond their textbooks.

In addition to exciting cultural exchange opportunities, students can also head down to Naples to visit the National Archaeological Museum to see the mosaics from Herculaneum. They’ll also take walking tours in Rome and Naples where they’ll learn about the history beyond the Romans, with architectural and political highlights throughout.

For Classics students, though, the Civilisation tour provides an enhanced look at ideas introduced in the history tour. In addition to the key sites, Classics students will also get the chance to explore the Area Sacra di Largo Argentina, the Theatre of Marcellus, and the Baths of Diocletian.

To complete their learning, they’ll take a trip to the National Roman Museum, a VR experience at the Colosseum, and a thrilling gladiator lesson. Here they’ll learn about the sword-fighting techniques of the time, as well as archery and javelin-throwing.

Business:

A business school trip to Italy provides a great opportunity to look at both international and local industry in action. On our Business tour, students get a glimpse of key global players across markets, as well as insight into smaller, culture-based industries too.

In Rome, students visit the Fendi offices in Mussolini’s Square Colosseum to learn about Italy’s vital role in global fashion culture, before attending a business lecture held by a street art publishing company. Students will take part in a Q&A session here – meaning they’ll get firsthand knowledge direct from the industry professionals themselves.

In Bologna, students visit the bustling exhibition space of Fiera di Bologna in the city’s business district, before they head out into the countryside. While food is a key part of Italian culture it’s also a part of their industry too, and students visit an Eataly Farm workshop to get to grips with its history, supply chain and products. Finally, they’ll also pay a visit to the Ferrari Museum to learn Italy’s place in the international motor industry and explore the technical, marketing and team building aspects of the business.
