On the second day of this trip, following a visit to the world-famous Tsukiji fish market, students will join a sushi making class led by a master sushi chef, or itamae. Then, they will be invited to feast on the sushi they have made. During the class, they will find out about the history of the cuisine, as they learn how modern-day sushi evolved from an age-old technique of preserving fish in fermented rice.
On Day 4 of this action-packed trip to the wildest of Japan’s four main islands, students will go white water rafting through the forest before heading to the Asahiyama Zoo. There they will meet a whole host of animals including penguins, sea lions and polar bears.
This trip focuses on Japan’s ahead-of-the-curve technology and on Day 3 students will visit Tokyo’s National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. The museum’s permanent exhibition includes exhibits on space science and robotics. Later on, students will take a cruise along the River Sumida – a favourite subject of many a Japanese poet – before finishing their day under the dazzling lights of Akihabara Electric Town.
This ski trip to the beautiful mountain resort of Hakuba in Nagano Prefecture has an itinerary that combines plenty of action on the slopes with the chance to experience traditional Japanese culture. On Day 6 of the trip students will meet the snow monkeys of Jigokudani Wild Monkey Park before heading to Zenkō-ji Temple to see its Buddha statue – the first of its kind in Japan. In the evening they will be treated to a taiko drumming performance.
This trip brings together the best of both worlds – five days of skiing in the mountains of Nagano before speeding off to Japan’s futuristic capital. The final day of the trip includes a visit to the Edo-Tokyo Museum, providing a great opportunity for students to discover Tokyo’s rich cultural history. Later on they will explore some of the city’s other major attractions including Sensoji Temple, the Meiji Shrine and the iconic Shibuya Crossing.
