Day 1: Arrival in Shanghai
- Arrive at the airport, where our enthusiastic Adventure Leaders will be waiting for you at the arrivals gate, waving our Learning Adventure flag.
- Transfer to your accommodation and once you are refreshed and settled, come together for a trip briefing. Your adventure leaders will explain details about your travel plans, give advice on how to adapt to the local culture and outline how you will stay safe during your travels.
- Stroll along East Nanjing road to the Bund, one of Shanghai’s most iconic locations, digging into the city’s colonial history and discovering how it gained its current prominence.
Day 2: Mandarin Class and river cruise
- Brush up on your language skills by taking a Mandarin class in Shanghai.
- Explore the Yu Yuan Garden and its blend of traditional architecture and modern shop fronts. Practise your Chinese while bargaining for souvenirs. Also take a visit to Cheng Huang Temple, a traditional Chinese temple that is dedicated to the worship of the city’s protective deities.
- Indulge in Shanghai’s delectable sheng jian dumplings, a textural symphony that is a combination of steamed bun, fried potsticker, and soup dumpling.
- Tour Shanghai’s glitzy financial district, Lujiazui, and head to the top of China’s tallest building, the Shanghai Tower, for a view of the city.
- Take a cruise on the Huangpu River, and spot ‘Shanghai through the ages’: colonial buildings reflect against skyscrapers on either side of the river.
