Our specialists in the region recommend that Brunelleschi’s dome, all 463 steps of it, is something not to be missed. It allows you to see the cathedral from the inside (without having to queue) and to admire the unique, double-domed structure that Brunelleschi designed. It also provides unbeatable views over Florence. Of course, traveller favourites such as Michelangelo’s statue of David live up to the hype, with a guided tour allowing you to really understand this masterpiece that was originally intended to be placed on top of the cathedral.
Our school trips to Florence also take in hidden gems such as the Galileo Museum, a must see for Physics and Renaissance students (where they can also get up close to Galileo Galilei’s severed fingers!).
