These sessions give students the opportunity to ask questions about how to break into certain sectors and the day to day lives of entrepreneurs.
The Globe Theatre
This is an activity that can really help you step back into a bygone era and imagine the London of the Elizabethan era. The theatre is a reconstruction of the original version where Shakespeare’s plays were performed. We arrange a tour of the facility where you can discover more about the incredible history of the theatre and how the plays were received in the 17thcentury. What’s more- in the summer- you can replicate the experience of the original viewers by watching a performance from the “yard.” This refers to the standing area and it gives viewers the chance to watch some of the country’s best actors perform Shakespeare.
Street Art
On a student trip to London – we like to arrange visits to areas that might counter pre-conceived expectations of the city. One aspect that never fails to provoke is the street art scene and we arrange a walk through some of Shoreditch’s finest murals and pop up galleries. This gives students the chance to see an evolving part of London’s culture and to admire some provocative art pieces. Live sport
London is home to some world-renowned sporting stars and has a huge scene beneath it as well! You can pay a visit to Premier League grounds for a stadium tour including a visit to the city’s most recent European champions: Chelsea. Alternatively – there’s a whole load of other sports that can offer an insight into this important part of British culture. You could check out a cricket game, rugby match or non-league football game. This would offer an interesting cultural perspective and a fun experience.
Publishing profile
London plays host to one of the world’s most thriving literacy scenes and has been the inspiration for a number of the nation’s most famous works. It is also a place where young book-lovers seek employment in the highly competitive world of publishing. One of the options we offer on a student trip to London is the chance to directly engage with professionals working within the publishing industry. You can arrange a Q and A with one of the capital’s literary agents. Her role is to find authors, promote their work and negotiate deals for them. You’ll be able to gain an insight into how the world works and a sense of how to enter the industry.
Quidditch
Whilst we don’t have a specific wizarding tour- we do offer students the chance to try Quidditch in the home of Harry Potter. This fictionalised sport has inspired an actual game and you can have a lesson to master the basics and learn about how it is played. An experience that has to be done to be believed!
