Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Seoul

  • Arrive at the start of your Learning Adventure where our enthusiastic Adventure Leaders will be waiting for you, waving our TLA flag. After arrival, you will be provided with a Trip Briefing. 
  • Start your journey with a walking tour of the local area. Your Adventure Leader will talk you through some of the cultural differences you should be aware of, as well as giving you some top tips for your tour.

Day 2: Kukkiwon and visiting N Seoul Tower

  • For your first morning, take a visit to the Kukkiwon which serves as the headquarters of World Taekwondo. The organization provides Taekwondo instructor training, undertakes research and development of Taekwondo techniques, and hosts the World Taekwondo Hanmadang. 
  • Visit a Dojang, the Korean word for the training hall, where martial arts like Taekwondo & Tangsoodo take place. Have a training session lead by a local instructor.
  • After dinner, soak in the incredible views over the Metropolis, from the observation deck of Seoul’s second highest point, the N Seoul Tower.
  • It’s time to board the cable car and head up Namsan to the base of N Seoul Tower, taking in the city views as you ascend.

Day 3: DMZ, Imjingak Park and meeting a North Korean defector

  • This morning, head 2 hours north of Seoul to visit the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea, better known as the DMZ. Take in views across the zone from the Dora Observatory and go into an infiltration tunnel under the DMZ built by the North Koreans.
  • Get educated on Korean history by exploring Imjingak Park which has various war-related artifacts.
  • In the afternoon, you’ll get the opportunity to meet a North Korean defector, who came across the border for a new life in South Korea, after going through a harsh ordeal in North Korea. You’ll be joined by him/her telling you about real life and comparing life in both Koreas.
  • Take time to relax and watch an evening show in the city and learn about the art and culture.

Day 4: Gyeongbokgung Palace and Gwangjang Market

  • Today, take a short inner city hike up to see stunning views of Korea’s capital from its center! Inwangsan Mountain follows the old city walls up to a peak creating panoramic views over Gyeongbuk Place.
  • Visit Gyeongbokgung Palace, the main Royal Palace of the Joseon Dynasty. Explore the exquisite palace before walking up the Hill to the East of the palace. At the top, you will find Bukchon Hanok Village, a Korean traditional village of narrow alleys and traditional Korean houses called Hanoks.
  • Afterwards, explore the Gwangjang Market, one of the oldest and largest traditional markets in South Korea. Take the time to sample local food or wander the stalls that sell a variety of goods.

Day 5: Daejeon and Taekwondowon

  • Take a high speed train from Seoul to Daejeon.
  • Visit Taekwondowon, the world’s only professional taekwondo venue that houses taekwondo. During your stay at the Taekwondowon you’ll get to choose from three Taekwondo activities to further study. (Sparring, Breaking, Kicking, poomsae etc.).

Day 6: Seoul and shopping at Myeong-dong

  • Take a high speed train from Daejeon back to Seoul
  • Once you’ve arrived back in Seoul, visit Myeong-dong – Korea’s best-known shopping district, where the streets are lined with department stores and shops that sell brand-name cosmetics, clothes, shoes and accessories.

Day 7: Farewell

Today, it’s time to say goodbye to South Korea as you head back home.
