Day 1: Arrival in Vietnam

  • Touch down in Vietnam and be greeted by your enthusiastic Adventure Leader. Head to your accommodation in Hanoi and have a full itinerary and safety briefing.
  • Start your tour with a visit to Hanoi Old Quarter to take in the architecture and bustling culture of Vietnam!

 

 

Day 2: Bai Dinh Pagoda and Hoan Kiem Lake

  • Enjoy a tranquil walk around Hoan Kiem Lake taking in the Tai Chi classes and beautiful scenery.
  • Spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the Bai Dinh Pagoda with a mix of picture hunts, riddles, and challenges.
  • Spend the afternoon, exploring the Bai Dinh Pagoda, the largest in Southeast Asia, through a self-guided adventure full of picture hunts, riddles, and challenges. Discover its vast and majestic architecture—a pinnacle of Vietnamese tradition. Embrace the beauty and mystery as you navigate through this iconic site.

Day 3: Earthen Building and Ninh Binh Night Market

  • Start your day with a visit to the Earthen Building, a great example of sustainable building practices. Enjoy a workshop to learn about the benefits these techniques can bring and have a hands-on building experience.
  • In the afternoon you’ll have a permaculture initiation course at La Library.
  • After dinner it’s time to head to the Ninh Binh night market with more than 100 stalls selling many clothes, flat shoes and other specialty stalls. Enjoy the night by trying some local Vietnamese cuisine and souvenir shopping.

Day 4: Cave of Early Man and Hoa Lu' Ancient Town

  • Step back in time with a visit to the Cave of Early Man in the Cuc Phuong National Park. Enjoy a short hike and be rewarded with stunning views and fascinating human history.
  • Embark on a journey of discovery at the Cuc Phuong Museum! This treasure trove of knowledge offers a deep dive into the incredible biodiversity of Cuc Phuong National Park. From the vibrant wings of dragonflies to the fascinating forms of stick insects, the museum showcases the park’s rich insect and plant life. Get ready to be amazed by the wonders of nature!
  • In the evening take in the enchanting atmosphere of Hoa Lu’ Ancient Town with a self-guided night walk.

Day 5: Cuc Phuong National Park volunteering

  • Spend the day lending a helping hand to the conservation efforts of the Cuc Phuong National Park team. Many topics are offered including turtle conservation, primate rescue, or tree planting.
  • After a hard day’s work, you’ll transfer back to Hanoi.

Day 6: Ha Long Bay and 2-Day Cruise

  • Head out of Hanoi for your next destination Ha Long Bay, known as the “Bay of Descending Dragons” an enchanting bay in the heart of Vietnam.
  • Relax, soak in the scenery, and embrace the culture on this 2-day cruise. Learn about this UNESCO World Heritage site, and enjoy the stunning picturesque landscape.
  • After some lunch take to the water on bamboo rowing boats to explore the surrounding caves with local guides. Visit Titop Island and finish the afternoon on the sundeck for dramatic views.
  • In the evening see the Bay from a new angle as you take part in a night-fishing activity.

Day 7: Tai Chi and Hanoi Night Market

  • Engaging in Tai Chi session in the early morning is the perfect way to start your new day in Halong Bay. Tai Chi is a gently physical exercise combining deep breathing and relaxation with slow and easy movements.
  • After a fun Tai Chi session, explore the magnificent and hidden Sung Sot or Surprise Grotto on Bo Hòn Island. This cave is also within a UNESCO world heritage site, a title which only confirms its beauty.
  • For your last evening, experience traditional Vietnamese culture in one of the nation’s most vibrant and exciting cities. Explore Hanoi Night Market and enjoy the endless markets, shops, and houses all selling Vietnamese goods. Fruits, candies, coffee, snacks, smoothies…you name it! This area is ideal for exploring on foot.

Day 8: Farewell

  • Sadly, today marks the end of your service school trip to Vietnam. Transfer back to the airport, ready to head home!
