Day 1: Arrival in Singapore

  • Arrive at the airport, where our enthusiastic Adventure Leaders will be waiting for you at the arrivals gate, waving our Learning Adventure flag. 
  • Transfer to your accommodation and once you are refreshed and settled, come together for a trip briefing. Your adventure leaders will explain details about your travel plans, give advice on how to adapt to the local culture and outline how you will stay safe during your travels. 
  • Explore the amazing forest valley and collection of art and nature exhibits at Changi Airport. There is a reason it is regarded as one of the world’s most spectacular airports!

Day 2: Singapore City Tour and boat ride

  • Enjoy a half day city tour visiting Singapore’s most iconic sites, including Kampong Glam, China Town, Little India and the Raffles Hotel. You’ll experience the melting pot of cultures in SIngapore as you board the bus with our local guide as part of your own private tour.
  • Hop aboard a traditional bumboat, a humble mode of water transportation that has ferried both goods and people across the Singapore River for decades.  Set sail across the water, bound for Merlion Park, home to the magnificent water fountain statue, shaped as the mythical Merlion.
  • Enjoy panoramic views from the Marina Bay Sands Skypark Observation Deck, perched atop one of the most iconic buildings in both Singapore and the world.

Day 3: Discover Singapore’s Cultural Heritage

  • At the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre, join in the conversation and discover (or rediscover) what it means to be a Chinese Sinaporean.
  • Immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Chinatown with a tea appreciation session. Discover the art of Chinese tea preparation, the significance of different tea varieties, and the traditional tea ceremonies that have been passed down for generations.
  • Explore further through Chinatown with dinner on “food street”, before weaving through historic alleys and streets, stopping in temples and shops with unique histories.

Day 4: Lion dance and Malay Culture

  • Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of lion dance by participating in a workshop at a Lion Dance Studio. Learn about the rick cultural traditions and symbolism associated with lion dance, a traditional Chinese performance art.
  • Head to Arab Street and Kampong Glam to learn more about Malay culture. Move on to the vibrant Bugis area to see the landmark Si Ma Lu Temple, then enjoy some free time exploring the areas around Bugis Junction and Bugis Street. Grab some food at the local market stalls.
  • Explore Little India, walking along the lively Serangoon Road and its neighbouring streets. Gain an insight into this community and learn about the development of this part of the city.

Day 5: Cooking class and Gardens by the Bay

  • Dive deeper into Singapore’s food culture and discover the secrets behind the dishes you’ve been trying during the trip with a cooking class. Fire up your wok and get cooking!
  • Explore the stunning Gardens by the Bay, a place where technology and nature meet. Step into enormous glass domes and smell the aroma of the flower field beneath you. Then, peer up at the Cloud Forest’s 35 metre high indoor waterfall, the highest in the world.
  • Watch a light show from Marina Bay Sands. This nightly show combines dazzling lights, music and projections to create a mesmerizing display.

Day 6: Explore Peranakan heritage

  • Embark on a cultural voyage through the Peranakan Museum in Singapore, dedicated to showcasing the rich cultural hiritage and traditions of the Peranakan community.
  • Step into a private Peranakan home turned museum, The Intan, located in the Joo Chiat neighbourhood of Singapore. Immerse yourself in the personal collection of Mr. Alvin Yapp, the owner and curater, who will passionately share his Peranakan heritage.
  • On the last night, there will be a chance for students, faculty and adventure leaders to come together for a reflection session on this culture school trip in Singapore. Through discussion, listening and guided thought, participants can process their experiences, digest new ideas and consider what they have learned about the region, its people and themselves during the trip.

Day 7: Return home

  • Sadly, today it’s time to head back to the airport for your flight home. The Learning Adventure’s mission is to expand minds through transformative travel experiences, so we hope that as you settle into your seat for the journey home, that all you have experienced during your trip will leave you with a feeling of increased confidence, knowledge, understanding and yearning for your next adventure!
