Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Bali

  • Arrive at the start of your Learning Adventure where our enthusiastic Adventure Leaders will be waiting for you, waving our TLA flag.
  • After arrival, you will be provided with a Trip Briefing. Your Adventure Leaders will explain details about your travel plans, give advice on how to adapt to the local culture and outline how you will stay safe during your travels.
  • Get a chance to explore and see the beautiful Tegalalang Rice Terrace. Learn about the rice culture in Bali and understand more about the different ways rice is used in the culinary scene.

Day 2: Wood carving and cooking class

  • Learn the art of wood carving at the Gianyar Town art venue, where students can try their hand at their own carving.
  • Explore the vast Agung Rai Museum of Art and take in the classics of Indonesian art.
  • It’s time to master the art of Indonesian cuisine with a cooking class! Use locally sourced herbs, spices, and fresh products to create a masterpiece under the guidance of expert Balinese chefs.
  • In the evening, visit the local night market where students indulge in a spot of shopping, and taste some local food.

Day 3: Waterfall hike and jewelry making

  • In the morning, you will get to meet with a member of the village and enjoy a guided tour to explore the local culture. Then, make your way to the waterfall hike before admiring the beauty of nature.
  • Try out the art of silver jewelry making, coached by a silversmith at a traditional village workshop. Tour the village to understand the craft’s importance, and learn to shape, cut, and finish your design before keeping it as a memento.
  • Enjoy a wonderful Balinese dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4: Maestro painter and Kaba-kaba palace

  • Visit and learn from the Maestro Painter as you hear about his story and experiences. After a tour of the village, you can find your own spot to have a go at traditional painting techniques. 
  • Cycle around the village and be involved with the daily activities of the local community. Learn all about rice field and its traditional irrigation system and get to know deeply about Balinese culture.
  • Take a look at Kaba-kaba palace and find out various types of historical relic of Kaba-kaba Kingdom.
  • It’s quiz time! Spend a fun evening testing knowledge and skills with a quiz night!

Day 5: Happy Heart Community and high tea ceremony

  • Students will get to participate in managing the community garden to ensure it becomes a sustainable source of vegetables for daily life.
  • Students will have a chance to view and learn the music and art performances by the people of Happy Heart Community, where they will share how they can overcome the physically challenges that they face on a daily basis.
  • Have a herbal welcome drink and meet with Ibu Made, learn her story and her motivation to create the movement. Take a tour of her beautiful garden, learn about the herbs and plant she use for the tea production.
  • Experience a High Tea ceremony to learn about the different varieties of tea.
  • In the evening you’ll hear from a local resident to learn more about Balinese culture. 

Day 6: Green School Way and reflection

  • You will have the opportunity to explore learning spaces, student projects, jungle groves and hear the history and philosophy of teaching and learning the ‘Green School Way.’
  • In the evening students, faculty members, and your Adventure Leader will all engage in a reflection session to digest all the new information and ideas they have gained while in Bali.

Day 7: Farewell

  • Wave goodbye to Bali as you head to the airport for your return travel.
