Wander through the the gardens of Changdeokgung Palace
Another of the palaces built by the Joseon Dynasty, Changdeokgung is best known for its sprawling ornamental gardens. Originally used by the women of the palace, the beautiful gardens are now the perfect oasis away from the bright lights of Seoul. Students can look out for water features dating back to the 17th century and the five ornate pavilions contained within its walls.
Witness history in the making at the DMZ
One of the most visited tourist destinations in South Korea, is also one of its most historically pertinent. The Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), is a strip of land between North and South Korea that serves as a buffer zone between the two ideologically opposed states. The zone also houses the Joint Security Area, in which negotiations between the two countries take place. Established at the end of the Korean War in 1953, the DMZ is heavily guarded on both sides to prevent invading forces from either state crossing the border. Take a Cruise along the Han River
A cruise along the main river running through Seoul, provides students with the unmissable opportunity to observe and learn about the city. Look out for important landmarks such as Jeoldusan Park, the 63 Building and Yanghwa Bridge.
