Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

  • Students will arrive at the start of their Learning Adventure where our enthusiastic Adventure Leaders will be waiting, waving our TLA flag.
  • After arrival, they will be provided with a Trip Briefing. Our Adventure Leaders will explain details about the students travel plans, give advice on how to adapt to the local culture and outline how they will stay safe during their travels.

Day 2: Museum, Sky Tower & rugby experience

  • For their first day, students will dive into New Zealand’s heritage with a fascinating tour of the Auckland Museum. They will explore exhibits on the country’s wildlife, conservation efforts, and historical milestones, including its rich Maori culture and role in global conflicts.
  • They will then get the chance to ascend the iconic Sky Tower for breathtaking 360-degree views of Auckland’s skyline. Students will be able to spot famous landmarks, as they learn about the tower’s architectural significance and the city’s landscape.
  • In the evening, the students will immerse themselves in New Zealand’s rugby legacy with the All Blacks Experience. They will engage with interactive displays showcasing the team’s history, learn the famed Haka dance, and witness what makes the All Blacks a symbol of national pride.

Day 3: Middle Earth, marquee lunch & Maori traditions

  • In the morning, students will get the opportunity to step into the magical world of Middle Earth with a tour of the Hobbiton Movie Set. They will wander through the lush green hills of the Shire, see iconic hobbit holes, and enjoy a marquee lunch in the enchanting setting that brought Tolkien’s world to life.
  • Later in the day, students can immerse themselves in the ancient traditions of the Maori with a captivating Cultural Experience. Witness authentic performances, learn about Maori customs, and indulge in a traditional Hangi Dinner, cooked underground using heated stones.

Day 4: Kiwi Hatchery & Agrodome

  • To start their day, students will get to visit the Kiwi Hatchery to witness New Zealand’s conservation efforts in action. They’ll learn about the endangered kiwi bird, watch eggs hatch, and discover the steps being taken to ensure the survival of this national icon.
  • They will then get to experience rural New Zealand at the Agrodome, where students will interact with farm animals, see live demonstrations of sheep shearing, and learn about the country’s agricultural heritage in a fun, hands-on environment.

Day 5: Te Puia Geothermal Valley, Huka Falls & Debretts Geothermal Hot Pools

  • Today, students will explore the mystical Te Puia Geothermal Valley, home to bubbling mud pools, steam vents, and the famous Pohutu Geyser. On this guided tour, they will also gain insights into Maori culture at the onsite cultural centre.
  • Marvel at the raw power of Huka Falls, where the mighty Waikato River plunges over 11 meters. Students will get the chance to feel the spray from this thundering waterfall and learn about the natural forces that have shaped this dramatic landscape.
  • In the afternoon, they will have time to unwind in the soothing waters of Debretts Geothermal Hot Pools, a relaxing retreat surrounded by nature. The warmth of these mineral-rich pools will melt away any travel fatigue as students soak in the natural beauty of the area.

Day 6: Lake Taupo & Waitomo Caves Boat Tour

  • For students last day in New Zealand they will embark on a scenic cruise across Lake Taupo with Chris Jolly Cruises. They will take in the stunning lake views, and marvel at the intricate Maori Rock Carvings that tell the stories of New Zealand’s native people.
  • They will get to journey underground on the Waitomo Caves Boat Tour and glide through ancient caverns illuminated by thousands of glowworms. Students will learn about the geology and history of these fascinating caves, and experience a sense of wonder at this natural light show.

Day 7: Farewell

  • Students will travel back to their departure city, As they take the Scenic route back, students can reflect upon the amazing adventures they had.
  • It’s now time for students to head back for their return travel home.
