Leaving behind the flat expanse of the Canterbury Plains, they’ll soon be surrounded by the towering peaks of the Southern Alps. As students descend toward the West Coast, the scenery shifts from alpine heights to lush rainforests, with misty mountains and fern-covered valleys.
  • Once students have arrived, they’ll get the opportunity to explore the incredible Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki on New Zealand’s West Coast, where layered limestone formations resemble stacks of pancakes.

  • In the afternoon they will contribute to preserving one of the country’s most pristine environments. Students will work alongside passionate locals to restore native habitats, plant trees, and remove invasive species in the region’s lush rainforests and coastal areas.
  • They will also help protect endangered wildlife, such as native birds, and assist with monitoring and maintaining biodiversity in this rugged and wild landscape.
