Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

  • Arrive at Alice Springs with a fantastic aboriginal welcome from the Drum Atweme, a local aboriginal music group. 
  • After a warm welcome, embark on a visit to the Alice Springs Desert Park where you can discover the Birds of Prey and Nocturnal House. Let your eyes adjust to the evening light and enjoy animals in their natural environment including the bilby, mala and thorny devil.
  • Return to the earth sanctuary and enjoy a delicious evening dinner.

Day 2: West MacDonnell ranges

  • In the morning, head to West MacDonnell ranges and take a dip in the cold waters of one the park’s permanent waterholes. The larger water holes include Ellery Creek Big Hole and Ormiston Gorge.
  • Have lunch with a view at Glen Helen or Mount Sonder Lookout. This will be a perfect spot to look for local wildlife, including the Grey-headed honeyeater, the desert mouse and termite tunnels on spinifex.
  • Take a look at the vivid colours of the mineral Ochre Pits, which have been mined for generations by the local Aboriginal people.
  • After dinner head to the Space observation for an Astronomy Tour. The skies above the Central Australian desert in the Northern Territory are one of the only places in the world to see the southern hemisphere night sky at its clearest – so grab a telescope.

Day 3: Alice Springs

  • Its time to explore the Alice Springs Telegraph Station, a historic museum precinct with indoor and outdoor displays. 
  • After lunch it’s time to discover School of the Air. Here you will reveal stories about school from afar, life on the land, and share in the dreams, achievements, and journeys of Outback students.
  • Enjoy some team building. Head back to the Earth Sanctuary for spear throwing and damper making, students may need to strategies together on how to improve accuracy and distance, and collaborating on problem-solving skills.

Day 4: Alice Springs

  • Today you have a choice of activities, you can enjoy a thrilling couple of hours Mountain Biking or you can get involved in the ‘Kunga’s can Cook’ bush tucker cooking lesson.
  • Post lunch time activity. Feel on top of the world as you walk along the towering red rock cliffs of Kings Canyon and take in views of the forest of palms below.
  • Here you will arrive at your campsite.

Day 5: Alice Springs

  • Depart your campsite and head back across Kings Canyon to visit the beautiful Garden of Eden, a beautiful rockhole surrounded by rare plants, before ascending to 360° panoramic views over the red sand dunes.
  • Once you’ve filled your bellies with lunch, get ready to visit one of the greatest natural wonders of the world, Uluru, one of Australia’s most recognisable landmarks. Experience Uluru at sunset for a spectacular sight as it transforms from ochre to burnished orange and intense red.
  • Enjoy dinner at the campsite and head to Ewing which has incredible views over Uluru and discover the laser pointers.

Day 6: Uluru

  • Walking is the best way to experience the three giants of the Central Australian landscape. Embark on the Uluru Rim Walk, 9.6kms. During the walk you’ll find yourself exploring Mutijula Waterhole and Mala Walk. Here rangers tell the story of the mala (rufous hare-wallaby) people. You’ll see all of Uluru’s natural and cultural beauty on this walk. 
  • Head to the Aboriginal art and Culture Centre and chat with local artists at the Maruku and Walkatjara galleries and see the important role art plays in indigenous culture.
  • Depart on the Kata Tjuta Gorge Walk, here you can hike around the incredible and breath-taking soaring rock domes.
  • Return back to the camp for dinner and enjoy a lovely cosy evening beside the campfire.

Day 7: Yulara & Farewell

  • In the morning, embark on a walk to Ewing Lookout for a team photo. 
  • End the trip with a camel trek. Get deeper into the valley for some breathtaking scenery. Due to their gentle nature, camels tend not to frighten the wildlife, thereby giving you a chance to get up close to wallabies, kangaroos, lizards and native birds.
  • It’s time to fly from Yulara Airport and head back home.
