Day 1: Hello Chengdu
Morning/Afternoon
Meet your leaders at the airport and transfer into Chengdu city. On the way, listen up for a trip briefing. Once you’ve checked in, head straight to one of Chengdu’s oldest streets, Jin Li Street, to get your first hit of Chinese charm. Engage with the area with a scavenger hunt. The winning team will get a prize!
Evening
Enjoy a Sichuan hotpot, a bubbling broth that you dip strips of meat in.
Day 2: Religion & Culinary Culture
Morning
Go on a walking tour of Chengdu’s Wenshu Monastery, where you’ll sketch the tranquil scenes in and around the temple. Then, visit the Sichuan Museum. Divide into groups and create historical timelines based on your group’s focus topic.
Afternoon
Try out your skills in a Sichuan-style cooking class and cook up your own lunch. Once you’re refuelled, get ready to make lifelong friends at a local school. Typically, you’ll be going on a school tour, joining some lessons and playing sports. If you want to be popular, prepare a small speech or performance for the welcome ceremony.
Evening
Finish a busy day off at a traditional teahouse, where you can watch a Sichuan opera and the famous face-changing act.
