Day 1: Willkommen!
Your students will arrive in Germany today, before transferring to the beautiful Lake Constance (Konstanz). Whether you decide to opt for a hotel stay, or students stay with a host family, you’ll be based in the picturesque town of Lindau for the duration of your German language trip. Located on an historic island, this lakeside town is awash with German culture, and is also the home of the language school where students will be getting their masterclasses each morning.
Day 2: The Tour Begins
This morning, your students’ German classes kick off. Every morning during their visit, they’ll be learning German like a local at the language school in Lindau. Then, in the afternoon, they’ll be both exploring the local area and beyond, getting the chance to put what they’re learning to the test in the real world.
After their classes finish today, students will spend the afternoon taking a tour with a local guide. They’ll learn about the history of Lindau, wandering past the museum, across the marketplaces, and through streets lined with baroque houses. Then, they’ll end their tour in the best way possible – with an ice-cream, overlooking the spectacular Lake Constance.
Day 3: Off to Bregenz
Following another morning of German classes, students will spend the afternoon heading across the border and into Austria. They’ll take a trip to Bregenz, a city located at the eastern end of Lake Constance. Once they’re there, students can explore the city centre, which contains architectural beauties like St. Martin’s Tower, as well as cultural hubs like the city’s Old Town.
They’ll also get the chance to take in the magnificent vistas of Lake Constance, with a journey on the environmentally-friendly Pfänderbahn all the way to the summit of Mount Pfänder. Once the gondola’s have dropped you at the top, you’ll get spectacular views all the way across the Alps.
Day 4: Therme Lindau
Students have another morning of German classes today.
Once they’re done, you’re all off to Therme Lindau, a thermal spa complex overlooking the lake. There, you’ll be able to take a dip in the outside thermal baths, which are naturally heated to around 35C, for an afternoon of relaxation after a morning of learning. While you’re there, you’ll also be able to enjoy both the indoor and outdoor pools, and the sauna. It’s a beautiful place that will provide you with yet more incredible views of the area.
Day 5: Away to Liechtenstein
Students will take part in their penultimate morning off their German classes today.
In the afternoon, students get a unique opportunity to visit the microstate of Liechtenstein. Located in the Alps between Austria and Switzerland, this 25km long principality is home to some absolutely stunning Medieval buildings, and is a cultural highlight in its own right. While students are there, you’ll get a glimpse of the Royal Castle in the capital, Vaduz. You’ll also get the chance to head to either the Liechtenstein National Museum or the National Art Museum (Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein), which features a collection of amazing contemporary art.
Day 6: Show & Tell
It’s the final morning of classes for students today, where they’ll get one last dose of German language in Lindau.
But after that, it’s time to put their newfound skills into practice! You’ll head to the local weekly market, Lindauer Wochenmarkt, which is packed full of vendors selling baked goods, jams and cheeses, and flowers. You’ll also get a chance to spend your final day wandering around the lakeside, taking in all the views – and hopefully, chatting away like a native!
Day 7: Homeward Bound
Today, your German language trip comes to an end, and it’s time for you to depart from Lake Constance. However, if it’s just too soon to head back, you’ve also got the optional add-on of a day trip to either Munich or Zurich.
