Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

  • Students will touch down in Beijing, ready for the start of their culture trip! They’ll meet their Adventure Leader and they’ll help them transfer to their accommodation.
  • After arriving, students will have a trip briefing with the Adventure Leader. Alongside running through the next 5 days of the itinerary, they’ll also introduce students to the local culture and provide some tips for adjusting to local life, while also explaining the best ways to stay safe while they travel.
  • Once students have settled in, they will take a guided tour of the Hutongs of Beijing, narrow alleyways that wind their way through traditional courtyard homes, offering a glimpse into the city’s rich past.
  • In the evening, they will watch a jaw-dropping acrobatic show, from contortionists to gravity-defying aerialists.

Day 2: Museum Visit, Tiananmen Square & Forbidden City

  • For their first morning, students will get a bird’s eye view of a large-scale model of Beijing at the Urban Planning Museum, they will engage with interactive exhibits, and see how traditional elements integrate into a modern cityscape.
  • Afterwards, they will take a walk in Tiananmen Square! It is an educational and enlightening experience, as it offers a glimpse into China’s rich history, culture, and the significance of this iconic landmark in shaping the nation’s past and present.
  • Recharged after lunch, students will learn about China’s imperial history at the Forbidden City. As they enter through the imposing Meridian Gate, explore the sprawling complex that was once the exclusive residence of emperors for over 500 years. They will also get the opportunity to witness a breath-taking sunset over Beijing’s skyline.
  • To end their day, students can enjoy a Peking Duck dinner, a world-famous Beijing delicacy.

Day 3: Great Wall

  • Today, students will travel to the outskirts of the city, a scenic two-hour drive away. They will then set off on a rewarding 2-3 hour hike through picturesque landscapes, leading to a secluded and breathtakingly beautiful section of the Great Wall.
  • After a day of hiking, try traditional Hotpot, a boiling-hot broth for dipping meat and vegetables. A China must-do!

Day 4: Tai Chi, Peeking Opera & Variety Show

  • Head to the serene gardens of the Temple of Heaven, where students will come together to practice some traditional tai chi exercises. They will then head deeper into the temple complex, stopping for a group photo in front of the blue-tiled Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest.
  • In the afternoon, students will join a Peking Opera workshop at the backstage, learning about the traditional art form from experts, the traditional costume, the make ups, the gears, practice moves and experience what needs to be done before getting on the stage.
  • For their final evening in Beijing, students will enjoy an original Beijing-style variety show that is listed as the first key tourism performance project in Beijing while having Chinese tea. The 90-minute show covers Beijing opera art, Peking opera singing, Chinese kung fu, Sichuan opera face changing, tea art performance, national song and dance, magic acrobatics.

Day 5: Farewell

  • To end their trip, students will try some traditional breakfast in Beijing! Locals and visitors start their day with a satisfying breakfast that may include Jianbing, Douzhi, Baozi, Shao Bing, and a warm bowl of Congee.
  • Sadly, today marks the end of your Learning Adventure to Beijing. We’ll transfer back to the airport, ready for you to head home.
