Day 2: Pretzels & Opera

Your first full day is a busy one, and it kicks off with a walking tour around central Munich. You’ll get the opportunity to see all the spectacular sights of the city, including the Marienplatz Rathaus-Glockenspiel, a magnificent ornate clock in the centre of the square that tells the story of the marriage of Duke Wilhelm V.

Next, you’ll stop at Viktualienmarkt for a spot of lunch. But don’t fill up too much, because you’ll be straight off to your next destination – a traditional Bavarian pretzel-making class. After all, no one can make music on an empty stomach!

Finally, this afternoon you’ll have a chance to indulge in a once-in-a-lifetime trip out. We’ll take you to enjoy a show at the Opera House, and we’ll even take you on a tour backstage!

Day 3: Neuschwanstein Castle

Optional Day

On your optional additional day, we’ll take you on an all-day excursion to Neuschwanstein Castle – probably the most instagrammable place in the world! It’s a fairytale-esque castle set high atop a hill, and you’ll get the chance to take a tour around it. Learn about the history of the place, and take in the spectactular views of the German countryside from your vantage point way above.

After this, head back to Munich where you’ll have dinner at the traditional Hofbrauhaus with an Oompah band. Then it’s off to bed – because you’re off to Austria tomorrow!

Day 4: Away to Salzburg

This morning, get up early to take the train to Salzburg – home of Mozart and the location for The Sound of Music. You’ll get there before lunchtime, just in time to attend the midday organ concert in the magnificent Salzburg Cathedral.

In the afternoon, you’ll take a walking tour of all the sights from The Sound of Music, including the beautiful Mirabell Gardens. Redesigned at the end of the 1600s, these gardens are every inch in the Baroque style, and feature an orangery and the Pegasus Fountain.

Later, you’ll be quite literally following in the footsteps of musical greatness, with a trip to Mozart’s Birthplace, a museum based in Hagenauer House that’s filled with original documents and artefacts celebrating the composer’s life.

Day 5: All About Mozart

Wake up with a sweet tooth this morning, because today you’re starting off with an apfelstrudel-making class! You’ll be taught how to make the delicious traditional pastry, and hopefully it’ll set you up for the rest of your exciting day.

You’ll also be getting a talk at the Mozarteum Music University. An institution filled wall-to-wall with experts, your students will get the chance to learn about the composer from field-leaders in his very birth city.

Then finally, complete your day with dinner at the Mozart Concert in Hohensalzburg Fortress. Take in the spectacular surroundings and feast on delectable food – and all with the accompaniment of an orchestra playing Mozart’s best works. It’s a truly showstopping location, and an experience not easily forgotten by any music lover.

Day 6: To Vienna!

Today, you’re away to the last stop on your amazing music school trip – Vienna. You’ll take the train there from Salzburg, and arrive just in time for a walking tour of this beautiful city. The most important stop on this tour? Haydnhaus, an amazing museum dedicated to another one of Austria’s most important composers, Joseph Haydn. Inside you’ll find exhibitions, artefacts, and carefully restored rooms throughout.

Every music student needs their timing tested, so after, you’ll put students through their paces with a Viennese waltz class. Let’s hope that no one has two left feet!

Day 7: Full Day in Vienna

Your last full day of the tour begins with a visit to Schönbrunn Palace, once the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers. You’ll take a turn about the place and learn its history, before you’re off to stop number 2. It’s time for a change of pace, as you head to Prater Wien – an amusement park in the city that’s bound to entertain students and teachers alike.

For your final outing of your trip, you might choose to attend the Viennese Opera. Or, for a very different type of show, you might head to see the Lipizzans at the Spanish Riding School. Here, classical dressage riders trained in the art of riding Lipizzaner horses will perform in an amazing display of sporting prowess.

On your last evening, you’ll have one final farewell dinner to bring your tour to a close.

Day 8: Departure
