Day 1: Get Settled

Morning
Touch down at Madrid airport and hop on the airport transfer to the hotel. On the way, your Learning Adventure guide will get you up to speed with Madrid life, as well as trip rules and safety guidelines.
Evening
After settling in, enjoy a group welcome dinner and trip briefing near the hotel.

Day 2: Street Art

Morning

Take the morning to get acquainted with some of the world’s most exciting street art culture. Your guides are street art hunters and graffiti artists – they’ll unearth parts of Spain’s art world virtually impossible to stumble across as an outsider!

Afternoon

After lunch, switch mediums and head for a tapestry factory to learn about the history of this textile art in Spain.

Evening

Finish off the day with a play at the Teatro Español.

Day 3: Guernica

Morning

Spend an interactive morning scavenger hunting around the Prado. One third of the Golden Triangle of Art, the museum is famous for its vast collection of European art.

Afternoon

From Rembrandt to somewhere a little closer to the ground, visit Taller Puntera, a leather shop. Watch the crafts people at work and learn more about the skills involved in creating leather items.

Evening

One to tick off the bucket list, stand in awe of Picasso’s Guernica at the Reina Sofía. It was a big political statement, named after the town that the Nazis bombed during the Spanish Civil War.

Day 4: Get to know Gaudí

Morning

Time to discover a new city! Take a minute to admire the indoor forest in Madrid’s Atocha station before heading on and checking into your accommodation in Barcelona.

Afternoon

Stretch your legs with a walking tour of the city and marvel at the modernist architecture. Admire the huge Sagrada Familia, an unfinished Roman Catholic church, a unique vision masterminded by Antoni Gaudí. Originally, another architect was in charge, but when Gaudí took over, he changed the project and would even modify things after construction to completely match his vision.

Evening

Debate over which of Gaudí’s works are most impressive as you visit Pedrera. Take an evening to appreciate the modernist structure whilst watching a night light show.

Day 5: Mosaic Workshop

In the morning, visit the Joan Miró Museum to see the artists’ life works. Get involved with an independent drawing task too.

Afternoon

Harness the creative flow you’ve got going in a mosaic workshop. Students learn about direct and indirect methods and take inspiration from Gaudí’s chameleon in Park Güell, to create their own colourful piece to take home.

Evening

It’s your last night, so feast on a traditional dish of black squid and rice before prepping for your flight tomorrow.

Day 6: Adiós!

Take your transfer to the airport, and spend the flight reflecting on your magical week. It might be home time, but it’s not over. Spain’s inspiring art will follow you back to the classroom…and beyond!
