Day 1: Arrival in Washington D.C

  • Students will touch down in Washington D.C., ready for the start of their culture trip. They’ll meet their Adventure Leader at the airport, and they’ll help them transfer to their accommodation.
  • After arrival, students will have a trip briefing with the Adventure Leaders who will explain details about the travel plans, give advice on how to adapt to the local culture and outline how students will stay safe during their travels.
  • Once students have settled into their hotel they can savor classic comfort food in a nostalgic 1960s-era American diner, where retro vibes meet delicious favorites.
  • To end their first day, students will take part in a night time monuments and memorials tour! Along the way they’ll get to see the White House, the Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial.

Day 2: National Mall, museum visits, Georgetown & taco tuesday

  • Today, students will immerse themselves in nature and culture at the National Mall, a historic, open park in the heart of Washington, D.C., often called “America’s Front Yard.” In students free time they can explore some world-class institutions, such as the National Museum of American History, the National Museum of Natural History, and the National Gallery of Art – all offering an unforgettable glimpse into history, art, and science.
  • Next up is the American History Museum, with it’s vast collection of over three million historical objects, including the iconic Star-Spangled Banner, the original Ruby Slippers from The Wizard of Oz, R2-D2 from Star Wars, and the First Ladies’ Inaugural Gowns.
  • Afterwards students will take a visit to the visitor center at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, better known at The White House, which is official residence and workplace of the President of the United States.
  • It’s time for some exploring! Students can head to Georgetown, a historic neighborhood known for its charming cobblestone streets, boutique shopping, and scenic waterfront. Home to the prestigious Georgetown University, the area blends academic prestige with vibrant shops, cafes, and art galleries, offering a perfect mix of sightseeing, shopping and dining.
  • It’s Taco Tuesday! Enjoy some fresh, flavorful Mexican cuisine at a local hot spot. From zesty street tacos and cheesy quesadillas to savory enchiladas and sizzling fajitas, students can treat their taste buds to a full-blown fiesta. Wash it down with a refreshing horchata, a tangy agua de tamarindo, or a sweet agua de jamaica.

Day 3: Supreme Court, museums & the United States Capitol

  • This morning students get the chance to visit the Supreme Court. Here they can listen to a courtroom lecture which introduces students to the judicial functions of the Supreme Court, the history of the building, and the architecture of the Courtroom.
  • Stroll through the stunning Library of Congress, the largest in the world, and explore its vast collection of historical treasures, rare manuscripts, and breathtaking architecture!
  • After lunch, students will discover the workings of one of the world’s most successful democracies with a visit to the United States Capitol. Here they will explore iconic highlights, including the Rotunda, the Statuary Hall, and the breathtaking Capitol Dome, at the heart of the U.S. legislative branch.
  • To end their afternoon, students will visit the National Archives Museum and see the original Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Magna Carta – some of the most significant documents in history.
  • It’s time to fill their bellies by grabbing a bowl of chili at President Obama’s favorite spot!

Day 4: Changing of the guard, museums & flight home

  • For their last day, students will visit Arlington National Cemetery to see the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
  • Then, they’ll continue their exploration of the country’s largest military cemetery, where they can also visit the gravesite of President John F. Kennedy.
  • Enjoy lunch and take some time for a shopping spree at Pentagon City, a vibrant enclosed mall featuring 160 stores!
  • After fueling up with lunch, students will explore the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center (the National Air & Space Museum) to see hundreds of historically significant air and spacecraft, like the Space Shuttle Discovery and a Lockheed Martin SR-71 Blackbird, in an open, hangar-like setting.
  • In the afternoon it’s time for students to head back to the airport for their flight home.
