Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

  • Arrive at LAX Airport in Los Angeles at the start of your Learning Adventure where our enthusiastic adventure leaders will be waiting for you, waving our TLA flag.
  • Your adventure leaders will explain details about your travel plans, give tips on how to stay happy when away from home and outline how you will stay safe during your travels.
  • For the first evening, take a walk along Santa Monica Pier and play in the arcade.

Day 2: University visits, La Brea Tar Pits & bowling

  • For the first full day in Los Angeles, students will take a tour of UCLA, one of the most prestigious universities on the West Coast. The tour is led by current UCLA student tour guides and provides a glimpse of both academic and extra curricular campus life.
  • After the university tour, spend time at La Brea Tar Pits, a paleontological site where natural asphalt has preserved an extensive collection of Ice Age fossils, offering a unique window into prehistoric life.
  • It’s time to tour the second university of the day, USC, The University of Southern California. Here they will gain a glimpse of both academic and extra curricular campus life.
  • Visit Olvera Street, commonly known by its Spanish name Calle Olvera, a historic pedestrian street in El Pueblo de Los Angeles, the historic center of Los Angeles.
  • End the day off by enjoying a night of bowling in one of the city’s best venues, a favorite American pastime.

Day 3: Tour of LA, The Warner Bros Studio Tour and Santa Monica

  • Today students can experience a highlights tour of Los Angeles calling at Beverly Hills, Hollywood Blvd, Griffith Observatory and more!
  • They’ll then grab lunch at the 1950’s classic Mel’s Hollywood Diner
  • Go behind the lens and discover the secrets of movie making magic. The Warner Bros. Studio Tour brings you closer than ever to the entertainment you love. You’ll explore one of the busiest working studios in Los Angeles with a guide who will take you behind the scenes of the studio that has been entertaining the world for over 100 years.
  • Return to Santa Monica for dinner and to enjoy more free time at the beach and Pier.

Day 4: San Francisco

  • Take a journey up the Pacific Coast to San Francisco. Enjoy stops at scenic spots along the way, including the legendary “Splash Café” at Pismo Beach for lunch!
  • Arrive at the hotel in San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf area and enjoy a dinner of classic American fare at Bubba Gump Shrimp! Afterwards, take in the charm of the wharf and spot the iconic sealions!

Day 5: Google headquarters, University visits & Alcatraz Island

  • Today they’ll get the opportunity to take a stroll around the grounds of Google Headquarters. Though we won’t be taking part in any activities provided by Google, a stroll through the Google Visitor Experience and the grounds of their offices provides a sense of the scale of this tech giant.
  • Students will then get to take a tour through the grounds of Stanford University, considered one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world.
  • After Stanford, explore the gorgeous campus of UC Berkeley, widely regarded as one of the seven most prestigious universities in the state of California.
  • Between San Francisco Bay and Marin County is the world famous Golden Gate Bridge, which you’ll have a chance to see up-close today. It was opened in 1937 – at that time, it was the longest suspension bridge ever built, and has since been granted the status of a modern wonder of the world.
  • In the evening, hop on the ferry to Alcatraz Island, to walk through the eerie cell blocks which were once part of America’s most notorious prison.
  • Arrive back at Fisherman’s Wharf and come together for a reflection session. Through guided thought and discussion, you can reflect on the adventure you have just experienced.

Day 6: Farewell

  • Today, it’s time to head back to the airport for your flight home.
