Finally in Florence, students will immerse themselves in the Renaissance, witnessing masterpieces by Michelangelo and Botticelli, while participating in hands-on activities.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

  • Students will arrive at the start of their Learning Adventure where our enthusiastic Adventure Leaders will be waiting for them, waving our TLA flag.
  • After arrival, students will be provided with a Trip Briefing. Our Adventure Leaders will explain details about the travel plans, give advice on how to adapt to the local culture and outline how they will stay safe during your travels.
  • Once students have settled into the hotel, they will take a visit to the Duomo di Milano and marvel at the stunning basilica. They’ll be able to earn about the history and architecture of this icon of Italian architecture.
  • No visit in Milan can be done without visiting the famous Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Make sure to take pictures to keep this memory alive. Afterwards students can head to the Sinagoga Centrale di Milano.
  • Benvenuto in Italia! They can get get stuck straight into the Italian cuisine with dinner at a local restaurant and celebrate the beginning of their Learning Adventure.

Day 2: Sforzesco Castle & museum visit

  • For their first full day, students can enjoy a visit to the stunning Sforzesco Castle. Housing two museums and beautiful gardens, this is a great visit for all students and a lovely break from the hustle and bustle of Milan.
  • They will then get to learn about the genius and creativity of one of history’s most famous inventors – Leonardo Da Vinci! Students will visit this dedicated museum to explore some of his most famous inventions and designs.
  • See one of Leonardo Da Vinci’s most famous works of art – The Last Supper. Recognised around the world, with this visit students will learn more about the artist and the artwork before seeing the masterpiece for themselves (subject to availability).

Day 3: Turin & Mole Antonelliana

  • Today students will travel on to their next destination – Turin! They can enjoy the stunning views of the Italian countryside from the comfort of their seat.
  • Once they’ve arrived, students will step into the Mole Antonelliana now the National Museum of Cinema and an unmistakable landmark in Turin. Once the tallest building in Europe, ascending the 167.5m tall tower offers unrivalled views of the city.

Day 4: Food tour & National Museum of the Risorgimento

  • Students can’t visit Italy without experiencing some traditional food. Today students will start with a food tour of Turin. They’ll learn about local produce, see markets and vendours, and of couse, try some of the delicacies as well!
  • It’s then time to visit the National Museum of the Risorgimento, the largest museum in Italy dedicated to this influential period of history. Enriched with videos and interactive displays, a visit to this museum truly brings the Risorgimento period to life for all students.

Day 5: Egyptian Museum & Guido Gobino Chocolate Factory

  • In the morning, students can step into the past at the Egyptian Museum of Turin, home to one of the world’s largest and most fascinating collections of Egyptian artifacts outside Egypt! Wander among towering statues, vibrant sarcophagi, and mummies.
  • They will then get to dive into the world of rich flavors at Guido Gobino Chocolate Factory, where artisanal chocolates are crafted to perfection! Students can treat themselves to a sweet journey of tasting and watching master chocolatiers in action.

Day 6: Florence & guided city tour

  • Time for a new destination! Students will travel on to the beautiful Tuscan city of Florence! They can watch the rolling hills of Italy’s countryside from the comfort of their seat and get ready for this stage of their Italian adventure.
  • Once they have arrived, students will head out into the city of Florence with a guided tour! They will get the opportunity to learn about the history of this influential city; see world-famous Duomo, the Baptistry of St John (the oldest building in Florence) and Giotto’s Campanille.

Day 7: Uffizi Gallery, Opera del Duomo Museum & Brunelleschi's Dome

  • Today students will get the chance to immerse themselves in the world-renowned Uffizi Gallery, home to one of the most remarkable collections of Renaissance art. Marvel at the works of masters such as Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci as you navigate the gallery’s impressive halls.
  • In the afternoon, they will discover the rich history and artistic treasures associated with Florence’s famous cathedral complex at the Opera del Duomo Museum. Students will get to delve into the intricate details of the Cathedral’s construction, explore the Baptistery’s ornate bronze doors, and marvel at the masterpieces displayed in the museum’s collection, including sculptures by Donatello and a Pietà by Michelangelo.
  • Later in the day, students will embark on a captivating ascent to the top of Brunelleschi’s Dome, the architectural marvel that crowns Florence’s Cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore. Ascend the narrow staircase (with 463 steps!) to reach the panoramic terrace, where breathtaking views of the city await.

Day 8: Marbled paper workshop & Galleria dell' Accademia

  • This morning, students will experience one of the traditional crafts of Florence with an interactive marbled paper workshop. Student will learn about the history of this craft and then have a go themselves, directed by skilled professions, to create their very own paper that can be taken home as a unique souvenir!
  • Following from the workshop, students will learn all about the artistic legacy of Florence at the Galleria dell’Accademia, best known for housing Michelangelo’s iconic sculpture, the ‘David’. Stand in awe of the towering marble masterpiece, meticulously carved by the legendary artist.

Day 9: Boboli Gardens, home of Michelangelo & pasta making workshop

  • For their last full day, students will step into a verdant oasis in the heart of Florence with a visit to the Boboli Gardens. Designed in the 16th century, these meticulously landscaped gardens showcase a harmonious blend of nature and art.
  • They will then visit the home of Michelangelo – one of the great Masters of European art. Students will explore the rooms of this Baroque palace and view some of Michelangelo’s works and sketches.
  • To finish their trip to Italy off, students will get stuck in with a hands-on pasta making workshop where they will learn about the culinary traditions of Italy in the best possible way – by cooking and eating!  Lessons can be taken in English or Italian.
