Day 1: Welcome to Nepal!

Touch down in Kathmandu, ready for the start of your adventure school trip to Nepal. Over the next week, students will get stuck into the incredible landscapes of this country. After meeting the Adventure Leader at the airport, transfer to the accommodation and settle in. They’ll then meet your group for a trip brefing, where they’ll explain what lies in store for the week, give tips on adapting to local culture, and outline how to stay safe.

  • This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner before returning to the hotel for some well-deserved rest- ahead of a busy week!

Day 2: Kathmandu

  • Students spend this morning on the first of many spectacular hikes across the Nepalese mountainscape. They’ll be hiking at Champa Devi, where they’ll expect to see gorgeous viewpoints and glimpse the flora and fauna of the region. A mixture of uphill, flat, and downhill, along the way students will pass pine forests, the ranges of Mount Langtang, monasteries, and enjoy beautiful views of Kathmandu, Bungmati and Patan. On the way back, they can also pay a visit to the Dakshinkali Temple.
  • This afternoon, students get a true taste of adventure with a whitewater rafting experience on the Trishuli River! Nepal is known for its breathtaking rivers and rapids, which provide great opportunities for rafting – all under the supervision of qualified professionals.
  • After a busy day, wind down with an immersive meditation session, where students can get to grips with Buddhist traditions.

Day 3: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga

  • Today, transfer from Kathmandu to Pokhara with a short plane ride.
  • Once arrived there, you’ll hop on board a private vehicle to head to the next destination: Birethati. The drive, which takes a couple of hours, passes over the many hilly ridges of Lumle & Kande, winding up through a river valley and past birch forests – with many mountain views to take in en  route.
  • After arriving at Birethati and having lunch locally, it’s time to stretch those legs! Students will trek along the river and up to Tikhedhunga, the location of tonight’s accommodation. You can expect the walk to take around 3-4 hours.
  • After dinner this evening, the group’s Adventure Leader will provide students with cultural information about life and history of Nepal – before telling you what lies in store tomorrow!

Day 4: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

  • If those walking boots aren’t broken in, today is the day to do it. Today, students will spend a full day hiking through the beautiful Annapurnas as they hike to their next overnight stay in Ghorepani.
  • After an early breakfast, they’ll conquer the first part of the hike: the infamous 3000 steps that lead towards Ulleri. After a steep first ascent, the trail gently passes through Ulleri and Banthanti – providing students with incredible views of Machhapuchhare as it rises almost 7000m into the air.
  • The trail then relaxes again, and students pass through verdant rhododendron forests towards Ghorepani. You’ll arrive in the afternoon to your next night’s accommodation, where there’ll be time to rest up ahead of dinner and a briefing on tomorrow’s hike.

Day 5: Ghorepani to Tikhedhunga

  • It’s an early start today, in search of a truly unmissable experience: sunrise from Poon Hill. It’s an invigorating but fairly gentle hike, which you’ll begin around 5am. Once up at the station, students will get amazing views of the sun as it rises over Mount Dhaulagiri, Annapurnas I, II & III, and Mount Nilgiri – among many.
  • After this, the group will head back down to the accommodation, where you’ll get breakfast before departing for the day’s trek. This will include a visit to Daurali, a small village with remarkable views of the mountain ranges. It’s then a bracing hike back to the accommodation in Tikhedhunga, bringing the day’s trekking to around 12km total.
  • Spend the evening settling back in, before joining the group for dinner and a discussion on the next day’s plans.

Day 6: Tikhedhunga to Kathmandu

  • Another early rise today, as students embark on a short, bracing hike after an early breakfast. They’ll be trekking to Birethati, arriving in the mid-morning. From there, you’ll transfer back to Pokhara airport, ready to head back to Kathmandu for the final stay of your adventure school trip to Nepal.
  • On the last evening, there’ll be a chance for students, faculty and Adventure Leaders to come together for a reflection session. Through discussion, listening and guided thought, participants can process their experiences and consider what they’ve learned about Nepal, its culture, and themselves during their trip.

Day 7: Farewell

Sadly, today marks the end of your adventure school trip to Nepal! You’ll transfer to the airport, ready to head home.
