Frequently Asked Questions

How can a school sports tour benefit my students?

A school or college sports trip provides the chance to help your students bond as a team, strengthening relationships and ultimately leading to better results on the playing field. Sports tours abroad are also the perfect way to fast-track students’ sporting skills, through masterclasses, training sessions and expertly-matched fixtures. Playing in these fixtures against other teams will also improve your students’ confidence, both on and off the field.

How can I plan my school sports trips?

The beauty of a school sports trip is that it can be planned anywhere in the world. While we offer a number of standard itineraries – like skiing in Japan or rugby in France and Spain, we’re able to customize any itinerary to suit the needs of your school. If you’d like to plan a tour but can’t see an itinerary here, get in touch and our sports specialists will help you discover what’s possible with The Learning Adventure.

What else can school sport trips include?

Here at the Learning Adventure, we believe that an educational tour is best when it combines subject-specific insight with a chance to get to grips with the culture of the destination. Alongside team training and activities, we can plan in attending live matches as well as cultural activities, such as local museums and historical sites. On a rugby tour to Italy, for example, students might use a stay at the Verona Rugby Academy to both hone their skills in training sessions and visit insightful local landmarks like the Ferrari Museum.

What are the best destinations for school sport tours?

We can help you curate school sport tours to align with any destination or related educational focushowever, there are particular destinations that we know will offer a unique and enriching sports experience.

France and Spain

The Basque Region combines sporting prowess with a unique cultural backdrop that is hard to beat anywhere in Europe. Led by Stu Lock, sports tours to France and Spain in this region focus on exciting sporting activities from local fixtures with your team to new challenges such as surfing and stand up paddle boarding. These fit with tailored itineraries that allow students to experience the best of local culture, spanning both France and Spain, learning about the enduring history of the Basque people and local culture. For sports tours to France and Spain in the Basque Region we have amazing facilities for your teams training in football, hockey, rugby, swimming and basketball.

Italy

The sports facilities in northern Italy are outstanding, making it the perfect location to bring your team for hockey, rugby, football, volleyball, basketball and swimming. Two of our favourite bases are the Bella Italia in Lignano and the Veronello Resort by Lake Garda. We also recommend the elite level facilities at the Verona Rugby Academy – with dorm rooms on-site that can sleep up to 34 people and a training base even if you’re not on-site, the pitches and facilities are second to none. We will arrange sessions for your team to train and fixtures with local teams and clubs. This area of Italy also offers incredible places to visit within a short radius, including the historic cities of Venice, Verona and Modena. Lake Garda offers a beautiful backdrop to your training, as well as watersports and hiking experiences for your team. Your students can also get their thrills from a Pit-Stop Experience at the Ferrari Museum, the Aquasplash Waterpark and Gardaland amusement park.

New York

Sports tours to New York are a brilliant way to see the Big Apple and engage with US sporting culture. With more sporting acronyms than you can shake a hockey stick at represented at a professional level in the city (MLS, NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL), New York is hard to beat. When you set that alongside a thriving college and amateur sports scene within one of the world’s most iconic cities, your next adventure is closer than you think. With football (soccer), rugby and basketball, there is a wealth of possibility when it comes to your team fixtures and setting up coaching sessions with a professional team.

United Kingdom

Our UK school sports tours have been carefully curated by sports coaches to create enriching and inspiring adventures. Our trips are packed with sporting experiences: fixtures against well-matched opposition, training sessions, team-bonding- physical challenges, psychological preparation and learning from watching professional sport. Currently we recommend facilities in Nottingham, Colwyn Bay, Edinburgh, Bath, Cardiff and Norwich, but we can tailor a trip to your team and their needs.
