Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Vietnam

  • Touch down in Vietnam and be greeted by our enthusiastic Adventure Leader. Head to your accommodation in Hanoi and have a full itinerary and safety briefing.
  • After a trip briefing, watch locals practicing their daily exercise and Tai Chi routines in the gardens by the water’s edge at the Hoan Kiem Lake. Situated in the heart of Hanoi, Hoan Kiem Lake is a scenic spot known for its picturesque beauty. Students can walk around the lake, visit Ngoc Son Temple, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.
  • To end your students first day in Vietnam, visit Hanoi Old Quarter, a fascinating area of the city where visitors can enjoy many fine examples of colonial architecture packed along narrow streets. The Old Quarter brings to life what many people imagine Hanoi to be, and exploring this area on foot is highly recommended for all visitors to Vietnam’s capital city.

Day 2: Hoa Lo Prison, Military Museum & Hanoi Night Market

  • Well-known as one of the most inhumane prisons with terrified punishment, Hoa Lo Prison is a symbol of the strong will of prisoners and their sacrifice for their communist ideals. Visitors can observe the small cells that revolutionary prisoners lived in as well as exhibits on prison life.
  • They’ll then get the opportunity to explore the Military Museum. The Military Museum presents the first and second Indochina wars and consists of eras of Vietnamese military history which are showcased in different buildings on the complex.
  • Take a visit to the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum. It houses the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh, the founding father of modern Vietnam. Visitors can pay their respects and learn about his life and contributions.
  • Explore the Temple of Literature, which houses five court yards, records of Vietnamese scholars, and statues of turtles which are said to bring students good luck in their exams.
  • In the evening, students will get to experience traditional Vietnamese culture in one of the nation’s most vibrant and exciting cities, Hanoi Night Market. Explore the area and enjoy the endless markets, shops, and houses all selling Vietnamese goods. Fruits, candies, coffee, snacks, smoothies…you name it!

Day 3: Hue & Vietnam's Demilitarized Zone

  • This morning students will take a 1 hour 15 minute flight from Hanoi to Hue.
  • Vietnam’s Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ, is located in the center of Vietnam – Quang Tri province, 100km from Hue Citadel. It is the area around the former border between North and South Vietnam by Ben Hai River and Hien Luong bridge also known as 17 parallel. The province preserves many remains from the anti-American resistance war such as the ancient citadel of Quang Tri, Khe Sanh Combat Base, Truong Son National Cemetery, Truong Son trail, Vinh Moc Tunnels, Hien Luong Bridge and Ben Hai River (17 parallel) . Vinh Moc Tunnel complex. The tunnels were dug and used as shelters by local village families during the American Vietnam War to escape all the continuous bombings.

Day 4: Imperial City, Ho Chi Minh & Nguyen Hue Walking Street

  • Visit the Imperial City, a historical and must-see place for all tourists to Vietnam. Get to see the walled enclosure within the Citadel of Huế City – the former imperial capital of Vietnam during the Nguyễn dynasty. It contains the palaces that housed the imperial family, as well as shrines, gardens, and villas for mandarins.
  • In the afternoon take a 1 hour 30 minute flight from Hue to Ho Chi Minh.
  • Once everyone has arrived and got settled in, explore Nguyen Hue Walking Street, a beautiful and modern street in central District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, connecting Headquarters City People’s Committee to Bach Dang Pier, Saigon River.

Day 5: Cu Chi Tunnels & Independence Palace

  • For the first day in Ho Chi Minh, hear stories of the American-Vietnam war as students discover the maze-like Cu Chi Tunnels, a 136-mile (220 kilometers) network of underground tunnels used by the Viet Cong soldiers. Step back in time as you peek into the old storage areas, poke your head through camouflaged trapdoors, and crawl through military supply tunnels. Explore the vast network of Cu Chi Tunnels’ underground system, learn about their use as hideouts and supply tunnels for Viet Cong soldiers.
  • Discover Vietnam’s long journey towards independence at at the Independence Palace. The Independence Palace, also publicly known as the Reunification Convention Hall, is a landmark in Ho Chi Minh City. Students will also visit Notre Dame Cathedral, French architecture Post Office and enjoy the souvenirs shops during the visit at the central post office.

Day 6: Ba Den battlefield site & puppet show

  • Visit the Ba Den battlefield site, which is close to the end of the Ho Chi Minh trail across the boarder in Cambodia. Take the cable car to the summit o Nui Ba Den for impressive views of the surrounding area.
  • For the last evening, experience a Vietnamese puppet show and discover more about this fascinating aspect of local culture. This experience brings to life a traditional part of the country’s history and makes for an entertaining evening.

Day 7: Farewell

  • It’s time to head back home. We hope that the trip will leave you with a feeling of increased confidence, knowledge, understanding and yearning for your next adventure!
