Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival

  • Arrive into San Francisco international airport where our enthusiastic Adventure Leaders will be waiting for you, waving our TLA flag.
  • For your first evening in San Francisco, take in the charm and spot sea lions at San Francisco’s famous waterfront, Fisherman’s Wharf.
  • Find a quiet spot for a Trip Briefing. Your Adventure Leaders will explain details about the STEAM themed activities you’ll do this week, give advice on how to enjoy your time away from home and outline how you will stay safe during your travels.

Day 2: STEM Workshop, Alcatraz Island, cable cars and bowling

  • In the morning, take a guided tour followed by a STEM workshop at the Exploratorium. Let your curiosity take you through hundreds of exhibits which form a gateway to exploring human perception, art and science.
  • After lunch, it’s time to hop on the ferry to Alcatraz Island, where you can walk through the eerie cell blocks which were once part of America’s most notorious prison.
  • After you’ve explored Alcatraz Island, take a ride on a San Francisco cable car and enjoy a fun, historic journey up and down the city’s famous hills, all while soaking in iconic views and charm. It’s a must-do experience with a nostalgic twist!
  • Enjoy a night of bowling in one of the city’s best venues, a favorite American pastime.

Day 3: Intel Museum, Tesla, stadium tour and trivia night

  • Today you’ll get the opportunity to explore the Intel Museum, which takes you through the history the of the Intel Corporation. Interactive exhibits encourage students to explore concepts in a fun and educational manner.
  • Hacker Dojo is a college who describe themselves as a community centre, where members working together with love to create wonderful things. Occasionally, the college welcomes visiting student groups inside for workshops (subject to availablity).
  • In the afternoon, learn more about the move towards electric vehicles, as you take a visit to one of Tesla’s largest showrooms.
  • You can then take a visit to the home of the San Francisco 49ers, as you tour the 68,500-seat Levi’s Stadium, a high-tech marvel northwest of downtown San José.
  • The evening is perfect for a trivia night. Try to recall some of the STEAM facts you have learned so far on your trip!

Day 4: Disney Museum, SF MOMA, bus tour and Twin Peaks

  • Start your morning in San Francisco by learning about the world’s leading animation company, as you visit the Disney Museum, where interactive galleries include early drawings and animation, movies, music and listening stations. Afterwards, check out one of the largest museums of modern and contemporary art in the United States, the SF MOMA (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art).
  • After you’ve filled up on lunch, embark on a guided bus tour around San Francisco, offering a comprehensive view of the city’s most iconic landmarks. From the Golden Gate Bridge to Fisherman’s Wharf, this tour provides insights into the rich history, diverse culture, and stunning architecture of San Francisco.
  • In the evening enjoy a short (20 min) hike to the top of the Twin Peaks for incredible views of the city.

Day 5: UC Berkeley, the MADE and Golden Gate Bridge

  • After breakfast, explore the gorgeous campus of UC Berkeley, widely regarded as one of the seven most prestigious universities in the state of California.
  • Take some time to wander the Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment (The MADE). This non-profit institution is dedicated to the preservation of video game history and to educating the public as to how video games are created.
  • In the afternoon, walk amongst towering red woods as you explore the Muir Woods National Forest Park.
  • Between San Francisco Bay and Marin County is the world famous Golden Gate Bridge, which you’ll have a chance to see up-close today. It was opened in 1937 – at that time, it was the longest suspension bridge ever created, and has since been granted the status of a modern wonder of the world.

Day 6: Google headquarters, Stanford University, Apple Garage and a baseball game

  • For your last full day in San Francisco, take a stroll around the grounds of Google Headquarters. Though you won’t be taking part in any activities provided by Google, a stroll through the Google Visitor Experience and the grounds of their offices provides a sense of the scale of this tech giant.
  • You will also get to take a tour through the grounds of Stanford University which is considered one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the world.
  • After lunch you’ll get to visit the original Apple Garage – the same one where Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak started Apple – which has now become a legendary site in tech history!
  • On your last evening you’ll get a true American experience as you enjoy a baseball game at Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. Enjoy the electric atmosphere, from cheering fans to the iconic views of the Bay (subject to game schedule)
  • After the game, come together for a reflection session. Through guided thought and discussion, you can reflect on the STEAM adventure you have just experienced.

Day 7: Farewell

  • Today, it’s time to head back to the airport for your flight home.
