Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Chiang Mai

 

  • Arrive in Chiang Mai, where you’ll be welcomed by your enthusiastic Adventure Leader waving the TLA flag.  
  • After settling into your accommodation, join your Adventure Leader for a comprehensive Trip Briefing.  
  • Start your cultural immersion with a traditional Khantoke dinner, a unique dining experience featuring a variety of small tasting dishes such as fragrant curries, minced pork, and crispy fried pumpkin. During dinner, watch performances of traditional dance and music by local hill tribes, offering an exciting introduction to the rich cultural heritage of Chiang Mai.  

Day 2: Chiang Mai Exploration

  • Begin your day at the Elephant Poo Poo Paper Factory. Here you’ll discover the innovative process of turning elephant dung into high-quality, environmentally friendly paper.
  • Embark on a scenic bamboo rafting adventure along a calming river. As you glide through the water, you’ll be surrounded by lush landscapes and serene natural beauty. 
  • In the evening, explore Tha Pae Walking Street, one of Chiang Mai’s most vibrant and bustling markets. This is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and pick up some souvenirs. 

Day 3: Jungle Adventure

  • Prepare for an adrenaline-filled day with a zip-lining adventure through the dense jungle. This thrilling activity involves zipping between treetop platforms high above the forest floor.
  • You’ll also experience a range of challenges including abseiling, crossing sky bridges, and navigating a spiral staircase, all while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding jungle. 
  • After dinner head out to explore the Chiang Mai Night Market, a vibrant hub of activity where you’ll find a variety of street-side stalls offering everything from tasty street food to locally made crafts, antiques, and clothing. The market is a fantastic place to experience the energy of Chiang Mai at night.

Day 4: Chiang Mai

  • Start your day with a visit to a peaceful temple nestled within the forest, surrounded by beautiful streams. Here, you’ll engage in a special session with a local monk, who will share insights into the temple’s history and the teachings of Buddhism. Then, you’ll participate in a guided meditation session, allowing you to experience a moment of tranquillity and reflection in this sacred setting. 
  • Your tour continues with a visit to Doi Suthep. At the summit, you’ll find Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, a revered Buddhist temple known for its striking golden chedi.
  • After exploring the temple, you’ll participate in a Thai language class, where you’ll learn essential phrases and basic language skills to enhance your interactions with locals. 
  • It’s quiz time! This evening will conclude with a quiz, where you can review the day’s activities and share your experiences with your peers. This quiz is designed to reinforce what you’ve learned and to encourage teamwork among your students. 

Day 5: Arrival in Bangkok

  • Enjoy breakfast before taking a short flight to Bangkok, Thailand’s bustling capital city.
  • Begin your Bangkok adventure with a scenic longtail boat ride along the Chao Phraya River. Your journey will lead you to Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen, home to the impressive Big Buddha statue.
  • Next up is a visit to Wat Arun, one of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks. Known as the Temple of Dawn, Wat Arun is famous for its towering spires and intricate architectural details.
  • Conclude your day with a visit to ICONSIAM, where you’ll witness the spectacular multimedia water show. This is one of Southeast Asia’s longest water fountain shows, combines light, sound, and water to create an unforgettable experience. 

Day 6: Cooking and Community Service

  • Start your final full day with a hands-on cooking class, where you’ll learn more about Thailand’s rich culinary traditions. Lead by expert chefs, you’ll learn to prepare authentic Thai dishes, mastering the techniques and flavours that make this cuisine so popular around the world. 
  • After lunch, participate in a community service project. These projects are designed to meet the specific needs of the local community and may include activities such as renovating buildings, creating sustainable recycling systems, assisting with farm work, or supporting marginalised groups. 
  • On your last night in Thailand, enjoy a final dinner together. Then, join a reflection session with fellow students, teachers, and your adventure leader. This session will give you an opportunity to discuss your experiences and what you have learned during the trip.  

Day 7: Farewell

Sadly, today marks the end of your culture school trip to Thailand. Transfer back to the airport, and prepare to head home.
