Sample Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Manila

  • Arrive at the start of your Learning Adventure where our enthusiastic Adventure Leaders will be waiting for you, waving our TLA flag.
  • After arrival, you will be provided with a Trip Briefing. Your Adventure Leaders will explain details about your travel plans, give advice on how to adapt to the local culture and outline how you will stay safe during your travels.
  • For your first evening enjoy a welcome dinner or rest up for the next day.

Day 2: Fly to Bohol

  • Enjoy a 1.5 hour flight to Bohol over the beautiful islands.
  • Once you’ve landed in Bohol, you’ll join the community and experts for mangrove planting. This activity is part of a community effort to enhance the local environment. You’ll plant seedlings and learn about the importance of mangroves in the ecosystem.
  • After lunch you will get the opportunity to Kayak in a group through the incredible mangrove tunnels with a professional expedition leader. As the sun sets, head back up river to witness a huge array of fireflies in the trees along the river. This experience in Bohol, was noted as one of National Geographic’s “100 nights to a life time”.

Day 3: Snorkeling & Lumad dancers

  • Embrace the role of a marine biologist for a day, with presentations, interactive learning sessions and Q&A with professional marine scientists. You will gain a deep understanding of the intricate workings of the coral ecosystem and the vital measures needed for its protection.
  • Enjoy snorkeling in crystal-clear water after lunch. Guided by an expert dive master, explore the shallows, marvelling at the stunning corals and diverse marine life.
  • After snorkelling, participate in an art session, expressing your observations and experiences from the snorkelling.
  • An evening with the Lumad dancers is a cultural experience that is like no other. The dancers, in their colourful traditional clothes, perform with elegance and strength to their ancestral music. You might even have the opportunity to participate in the dance and learn some moves!

Day 4: Tarsier Sanctuary & river cruise

  • At you visit Tarsier Sanctuary in Bohol, you will get to know the Tarsier, one of the world’s smallest primates, in its natural habitat.
  • Float along the scenic Loboc River on a river cruise. While onboard, enjoy a buffet of local Filipino cuisine. The cruise also features live performances of traditional Filipino music and dance, giving you a glimpse into the Philippines’ rich cultural heritage.
  • After your lunch, trek in the only national park of Bohol with a guide along a trail where you can see flying lemurs, long-tailed macaques, and various tropical birds. The encounter with wild monkeys is a highlight.
  • It’s quiz time! Work together in teams to answer some fun questions and demonstrate your local newly discovered facts from your trip.

Day 5: Turtle discovery tour

  • Embark on a turtle discovery tour, with a boat ride to a secluded island surrounded by crystal-clear waters and lush tropical landscapes. Once there, you will snorkel under the guidance of an expert, exploring an underwater world teeming with life.
  • Beyond just observing, you will also participate in important conservation work. You will collect data on the turtles, inputting your observations into a conservation database monitored by marine scientists.
  • Spend the evening at Oceanica Resort on Panglao Island. You will enjoy some free time lounging in pure paradise, playing volleyball, paddleboarding and enjoying the beach. The sunset at this pure white sand beach is an incredible place to wind down after a busy day in the ocean.

Day 6: Visit a local school

  • Your day will be filled with learning and camaraderie as you visit our partner school in Bohol. Interact with peers, participate in collaborative projects, and gain insights into a different educational system. You can immerse yourself in local culture, partake in traditional games, and even learn a few phrases in the local language.
  • In the evening take some time to reflect and write a diary entry for yourselves, focusing on what you are grateful for and your observations of the culture.

Day 7: Dalareich Chocolate House

  • In a morning visit to Dalareich Chocolate House and discover the art of chocolate making from bean to bar. You will learn about the process of harvesting, fermenting, drying, roasting, and grinding cacao beans to create delicious chocolate.
  • After lunch take a flight back to Manila.
  • On the last night, there will be a chance to come together for a reflection session. Through discussion, listening and guided thought, participants can process their experiences, digest new ideas and consider what they have learned about the region, its people and themselves during the trip.

Day 8: Home time

  • It’s time to head back home. We hope that your trip will leave you with a feeling of increased confidence, knowledge, understanding and yearning for your next adventure!
